Italian Stuffed Peppers

Ingredients

  • 1/2 lb. sweet Italian sausage links, removed from casings
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup Italian seasoned croutons
  • 1 cup Sargento® Artisan Blends® Shredded Whole Milk Mozzarella Cheese (about 4 oz.)
  • 1 jar Bertolli® Five Cheese with Asiago & Fontina Cheeses Sauce
  • 4 green, red or yellow bell peppers, cored and seeded

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°. Cook sausage with onion in 12-inch nonstick skillet over medium-high heat, stirring occasionally, 6 minutes or until sausage is done; drain.
  2. Combine sausage mixture, croutons, 3/4 cup mozzarella cheese and 3/4 cup Sauce in large bowl. Evenly stuff green peppers with sausage mixture. Arrange peppers in 8 x 8-inch baking pan. Evenly top with remaining Sauce. Bake 20 minutes. Sprinkle with remaining 1/4 cup mozzarella cheese and bake an additional 10 minutes or until cheese is melted and peppers are tender.
